buyand-whyPin

When I first saw this assignment I wasn’t to sure that I liked it. It seemed kind of boring to me to make a page about the things I buy. The photo I had chosen just didn’t seem to go with the theme. Yada, yada. But, since I had signed the “No Chicken Challenge” for this class (all about going along with the activities and not “chickening” out) I went ahead and started working on the page. And grew to love it. When I started the journaling I didn’t quite know what to write about, but after a bit it just came, and I began to realize that a few years from now our shopping list will likely be different in many ways, but the list we have now says so much about us as a family right now at this place in time. Ten years from now this will be a fun page to look back on. Note: The original receipt I chose for this assignment (the prompt simply said to get a receipt from your purse) was a Michael’s receipt. This one fit the page better so I did switch that out.

Journaling reads:

The Things We Buy and Why

Bananas because everyone likes them, and they are one of the few fruits that John will eat.
Raisin cereal plus EXTRA raisins because they don’t put enough raisins IN the cereal.
Lots and lots of diapers.
Digiorno Spinach, Mushroom and Garlic Pizza in a nod to “healthy” pizza.
One gallon of whole milk for John and one gallon of skim for everyone else.
Goldfish or cheese crackers – these are the favorite savory snack.
Animal Crackers because Mom won’t let us eat real cookies.
Diet Coke!!! because Mom can’t function without it.
Break and bake chocolate chip cookies for after the kids go to bed.
Yellow Tail Shiraz (see last two comments)
Petite carrots and ranch dressing – a favorite vegetable for Olivia
Potty candy for motivation
Salad in a bag – how did we ever get along without it?
“G-no bars” (Quaker Chewy Granola bars) for on-the-go snacking
Things that are quick and easy to fix. We also shoot for healthy whenever we can.
A little of this and a little of that, because it is Wal-Mart and they have some of everything. I rarely get out the door there without spending at least $200.

Digital credits include stripped paper from the Flying High kit by Kellie Mize at Designer Digitals. Blue and green cardstock I recolored myself. I can’t for the life of me remember exactly who designed the original piece, I have recolored it so many times. (Love the texture of it. It is my go-to digital cardstock.) Photo by Debbie. All other items traditional.
