We started the What Your Preschooler Needs to Know Activity Book this Monday. We have been reading from the reader for a few weeks now, and it has been a big hit. Goldilocks is a huge favorite. We got the activity book last week, and I thought we would give it a try even though Olivia doesn’t turn three for another month. Monday was about name recognition. She was kind of indifferent to that. I have printed some labels with her name on it to place around the house tomorrow. We shall see if that peaks her interest. If not, no big deal. Tuesday I discovered that she knows nothing about same and different. OK, I take that back. We went around the house comparing things. She was about 60% until we started comparing jelly bean colors. She got to eat the jelly beans if she compared correctly, if not, then mama got to eat them. She was 100% those five times. Hmmmm… We will continue to work same and different into our daily life nonetheless. Today we did a little art study of Matisse’s “The Snail”

then she made her own collage. The collage was of a teapot. We sang “I’m a Little Teapot” while she worked. It was a big hit.

She requested blue and yellow paper and then opted for a monochromatic look except for the lone yellow piece. I find it very interesting. She was so into it and really seemed to enjoy herself. That is all that matters.
