Life just kind of sneaks up on me sometimes. I move along, going about my day-to-day and sometimes begin to feel “off” or overwhelmed or like something just isn’t quite right. It usually doesn’t take much reflection before I am able to put my finger on what the problem is. Maybe my pants are too tight, maybe I am lacking in prayer, maybe the house is cluttered. Whatever the reason, once I stop to look, I am often pretty quick to pinpoint the problem that is eating at me.

Doing something about it? Now that’s an entirely different issue. Because, let me tell ya, I can procrastinate, makes excuses, and deny my culpability in the problem with the best of them. Taking action takes effort. And I’m tired and more than a wee bit lazy most days. But then I reach the point where something must simply be done.

Enter the Homeschool Mom’s Boot Camp. I’ve got some changes I need to make. Since misery loves company, I decided to recruit some friends to provide moral support while they make changes of their own. The few and the proud — Kristen from Teaching Stars and Chelli from The Planted Trees — have both stepped up to meet the challenge. Over the next two weeks we will be laying out some of our biggest trouble areas, attempting to make some changes, and reporting back on how things are going.

So what big changes do I need to make? I hear-by declare that for the next two weeks (and hopefully much longer) I will begin our school day by 8:30 each and every morning without fail.  I am quite ashamed to admit that most days, our school day does not start until 10 or after, despite the fact that we are hardly ever in bed past 7 a.m. Due to this, we are not getting much accomplished beyond the basics and the most interesting parts of our curriculum are being passed over. I need to make this change. More on how I am going to go about it later this weekend.

We are also issuing an invitation for you to join us. If you have an area in your life that needs a little work, you are willing to take steps to change that area, and you want to share it, simply leave a comment below with a link to your blog. I will add you to the participant list, and each time I post an update, your link will be included. We start on Monday! Are you up to the Homeschool Mom’s Boot Camp challenge?
