Does anyone else have a To-Do list a mile long? Oy. I’ve got to get it out of my head and onto some paper. I think that would help.

Around the House
Clean the house. Matt will be home Friday night, so I can’t procrastinate on this one. I have (ahem) fallen down on my laundry chores over the past few days, so I am going to play catch-up there as well today.

From the Kitchen
My weight loss efforts are still going no where. A couple of days I did pretty well and then got to the evening and consumed two glasses of wine and five Oreos (surprisingly not a horrible combination) and that was that. And then there was Mom’s house last night. She can really cook, and she made ribs and homemade onion rings. Oh man. So today I am focusing on low- (not no-) carb and not eating after dinner.

I can’t forget the smoothies! We have been consuming them like mad lately. We went to dinner at a friend’s a couple of weeks ago and had our first taste of green smoothie. I was totally unconvinced that anything containing cooked kale, raw spinach, and looking suspiciously like Oscar the Grouch fell into a blender could be anything but totally gross. I was so wrong. The smoothies were delicious. Since then I have been looking at easier ways to make smoothies with a bit of green, because cooking that kale slows me down. After our trip to the strawberry patch last week, the kids requested “regular” smoothies, so I came up with strawberries, banana, grapes, orange, kefir or yogurt, blueberries, handful of raw spinach, splash of apple juice (any juice would work), ice. These are purple in color and taste great.

Homeschooling
We are staying home much more this week, and are going to take the homeschooling back up a notch. Math, reading, our stack of daily books, space stuff, Spanish, art — all on our loop schedule. We are also going to be breaking in our new Logic of English Cursive handwriting program. We have been using the instructions I downloaded from the website (I believe she took them down when the curriculum was released) to learn to form the letters, but our practice book just came in the mail last Thursday.

On the Blog
Oh so much. I welcomed readers from Simple Homeschool this weekend to a post I wrote a while back about unschooling. Unschooling is one of the methods we pull from, and every once and a while I figure a bit of it out. I find it is one of the hardest methods (philosophies) to wrap my brain around — especially the execution of it. All of that to say, that I have many comments to respond to — I haven’t forgotten you. Oh! And then there is a giveaway coming up this week. Hold on! You won’t want to miss it. I am also hosting Making It Count Tuesday tomorrow, so quick, get your post ready to link up today. I know there’s time, because shhhhh, we haven’t even done ours yet. I would love to see how you are making your online time count.

Plans and Schemes
I just signed up for the summer session of Maximize Your Mornings. Oh, I so need this and so need it to work. Must be strong. Join me in the insanity? We can form an accountability group on Facebook or something. I am also working on another big project that I hope the launch soon. Can’t tell you any more about it than that at the moment, but I hope to have it out before month’s end and it’s going to be so much fun for bloggers and blog readers.

Reading
I did last week! I am so proud of myself for pretty much sticking to my reading goals. I am going to admit that most of it was pretty fluffy stuff, but hey, it’s progress.
The Other Guy’s Bride – fluff, fluff, fluff. I bought it a few months ago for .99 for my iPod Kindle reader. Read it this week while in the rocking chair (naps and bedtime).
An Offer From a Gentleman – A Julia Quinn Bridgerton romance. Yes, fluff, but fluff that is a cut-above. Especially if you like witty conversation and regency romance. This is a re-read
Through the Year With Mary: 365 Reflections – Totally redeeming myself here. Got it for the Kindle reader two days ago and am liking it so far — a daily dose of the Blessed Mother to bring you closer to Jesus.

Saying Yes
I am going to play Kirby’s Epic Yarn when asked this week. I am going to push someone on the swing when asked this week. I am going to do something for Olivia when asked this week. More than once and with a smile. I am also going to take them all to the local bouncy house place in celebration of thriving together through Dad’s annual training.

A Memory

There are few things like fresh-picked strawberries.

A Question
How do you feel about Monday mornings? I used to dread them when I worked outside the home, but now I find that I really like them. In a world where my days often seem to run together, they offer me a chance for a little fresh start. What about you?
