Around the House
You probably really don’t want to hear about how wonderful it is to have a cleaning lady, but I have to say it just once — this is the BEST THING EVER! Just had to get that out there. The peace of mind that comes from knowing the house will get clean right now, and I don’t have to do it, is just so freeing and amazing. It’s especially been helpful with me being sick. Love it.

Of course now I am mentally making a list of some things that need to be done around here since I should have a little extra time. I need to get that list on paper and start working on it.

From the Kitchen
This is another big, and so far positive, change. I subscribed to Super Healthy Meal Plans to see if we would like it. Then I made lists for a month and went to the commissary. I was able to get all of our groceries for the month for a great price, minus some weekly produce and a few items they didn’t stock. The good news is, the meals and snacks are all healthy and easy to make. I can’t wait to see how this works out for us in the long run. I am hoping to make an impact on our budget and our diet. Will keep you posted.

Homeschooling
Ummm… Well we were supposed to start today. Then I was sick the past few days (my flu morphed into chest congestion) and I was slow getting the last minute things (mostly the celebratory first day items) pulled together. So when a friend emailed last night and asked if we wanted to go swim today instead, I made a last-minute administrative decision and postponed Day 1 until tomorrow. And I decided we are going to start with just the 3Rs this week and add the extras next week. They might not need a slow start, but I do.

On the Blog
A new look! Do you like it? I have a few more things I want to do to the sidebar, but it is good for now.

Fitness
This is a new category here. Not much to report right now as I am not going to start exercising for another couple of weeks. I need to finish recovering, and I know it’s not going to happen while the Olympics are keeping me up late. I do have a copy of 30 Day Shred ready to go. I have also lost a couple of pounds using My Fitness Pal, but I have another 13 at least to go. Pants weather is coming, and I need to be able to fit into mine.

Plans and Schemes
Not much out of the ordinary going on. Mostly I am ready, ready, ready to get ourselves into a routine. The Olympics are messing me up, because I am staying up late — it’s a love/hate relationship. Oh, and potty training. We are trying to rid ourselves of diapers for the first time in over seven years. He is doing pretty well with it.

Reading
Well, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt did grab me. I would have finished it if not for the Olympics. I am almost done, and it has to be back to the library this evening. More thoughts after I finish it. Not sure what I am reading next…

Saying Yes
The kids keep asking to go to one of the build-your-own yogurt sundae places. I think that would be a great way to end the first week of school — don’t you?

A Memory

This is a horrible picture, but I love this band. The band does come play at your house, right?

I am off to get a shower while naps are going on. This evening the big kids have gymnastics, so Thomas and I are going to run to the library alone. I hope to duck into the grown-up section and nab a new book. Have a good Monday!
