Second straight day of rain. Good for the grass, bad for the activities!

Around the House
Tree guys come tomorrow!! I hope the rain is gone by then. Right now we have about seven trees marked for removal. I know we are going to add at least three more to the list. And will we be lacking trees or shade after this? Not by a long shot. We still have plenty to go around. But it should make a huge difference in the amount of stuff that falls in our yard and our ability to get grass to grow.

From the Kitchen
Summer salads, but nothing too fancy. I have been kind-of meal planning, but I need to really focus on getting some things we like to eat and getting them into a rotation. Nothing is calling out to me.

Homeschooling
Prep is going well. Right now I am focusing more on co-op prep than personal prep. Yesterday it was geography — pulled maps for the year and made week-by-week map keys for all of our geography memory work. I also finished up our timeline motions. It gave Matt a chuckle as I sat beside him on the couch silently singing the timeline song and doing the motions from the list on my computer screen while he watched TV.

On the Blog
Book review coming soon! And some more projects and plans…

Fitness
Yeah, I did good with this for about a week. Then I found other things I would rather be doing. Eh.

Plans and Schemes
Nothing at the beginning of this week. We weren’t supposed to be here! We will have to find something to plug in, though. Maybe a summer movie on Wednesday. We have been working on some Frontier Girl badges, so will continue that. If the rain clears up then we might hit the pool as well.

Reading and Crafting
Have not been crafty. No time with co-op plans! Reading right now is Beauty in the Word: Rethinking the Foundations of Education and it is so, so good. My highlighting finger is going crazy. The Kindle version is only $6.99.

Saying Yes
We’ve been doing quite a bit of crafty things lately. And pushing on the swing — a lot.

A Memory
Someone turned eight-years-old this week! We were supposed to be out of town for her birthday, but at that last minute were here due to the big storm in Florida. We threw together an impromptu birthday party at our pool and were blessed to have so many friends turn out with just a couple of days’ notice. Ironically, we dodged thunderstorms the entire party. We still managed to have a great time. (This was a major photography fail for me. The weather kept changing but my ISO didn’t. Most of the cake photos suffer from low light and camera shake.)

We are so proud of the big girl she is becoming. She doesn’t meet a stranger and has a sweet disposition. Love this girl.
