I am watching Thomas do gymnastics. I can’t decide if it is the cutest or most nerve-wracking thing ever.

Around the House
We are in full-on birthday party mode here. We are having a small get together with some family and a friend or two on Saturday for T’s birthday. I am not a party mom. Parties totally stress me out. Yep, as low-key as I try to make it, I am ready for this to be over.

From the Kitchen
I can eat something besides chicken and fish!! Well, every other day at least. So I made a roast this weekend, and tacos for the kids with taco salad for me. I also made a yummy Buffalo-style chicken. I put skinless chicken tenders, a cup of hot sauce, and a packet of ranch dressing into the crock pot and cooked it until the chicken was done. Then I served them over a bed of lettuce with some yogurt-based blue cheese dressing. Yummy and so diet-friendly.

Homeschooling
Oh man, such an exciting moment at our house today. I was introducing the word “jump” to John. So I had him name the individual letter sounds and was just about to model the blending when he said “jump!” I was so proud. Then to prove it wasn’t a fluke, he did the same with run, swim, and hop.  Reading here we come!

On the Blog
Plans, plans, plans including a handy printable and a little tough love for me. I also submitted my nominations for the Homeschool Blog Awards today. I have tons of worthy blogs in my reader, and it is so hard to narrow them all down, but I muscled through so my peeps can get a little well-deserved recognition.

Fitness
I have a confession to make. I have not been exercising. I know, I know. I should be doing something but it is the last thing I want to do with any free time I might eek out. Ahem. I have lost 11-12 pounds, though. Go me! All pants in my closet can now be zipped. Now to work on making some of them more comfy.

Plans and Schemes
For this week, birthday party shopping, birthday gift shopping, house cleaning for the birthday party, porch and yard cleaning for the birthday party, cupcake making for the birthday party… get the idea?

Reading and Crafting
I’m just leaving up what I wrote last week, because nothing has changed. Except I guarantee I am not going to get a Babette square started this week. Dish cloth and the knook are on the shelf for now as I work on that gift. I was considering doing a square for my Babette blanket so I would have something to share for Yarn Along on Wednesday, but I can’t guarantee it will get done in time. Still working on and enjoying Death Comes to Pemberley and also started rereading The Core: Teaching Your Child the Foundations of Classical Education for our new Classical/CM educators reading group we started locally.

Saying Yes
We’ve got a bouncy slide coming this weekend! I hope they leave it for hours and hours and hours.

A Memory
Three years ago this Saturday — my little bubble baby.
