YMB 17 No-Fuss Art for Morning Time: A Conversation with Tricia Hodges

Tricia Hodges is a homeschooling mother of five and the co-creator of the art curriculum You Are an Artist.

Tricia is all about a stress-free approach to sparking a love for art in our children, and she joins us on this episode of the podcast to talk about weaving some easy art projects into Morning Time.

No-Fuss Art for Morning Time: A Your Morning Basket Conversation with Tricia HodgesTricia’s go-to medium for simple, forgiving projects is chalk pastel, and she offers a multitude of free chalk pastel tutorials at her blog Hodgepodge.

She gives us step-by-step instructions for set-up, clean-up, and everything in between, including some tips for encouraging the reluctant artist (even if that artist happens to be mom). So grab your art smock and get ready to enjoy a great interview!

I really love the idea of using chalk pastels with my almost-first-grader for her “first grade art.” So glad I clicked on this podcast! But I’m a little confused: Do I need an actual teaching book, or is the “You are an Artist” material only via e-book? How do the tutorials fit in? I perused the HodgePodge website, but I’m still a little confused about how to implement lessons. (I’m technologically-challenged; that’s my excuse)! 😉

Pam or Tricia, could you help? Thank you!

      Hi Debbie,
Thanks for your question! I understand the confusion – we are, indeed, a Hodgepodge!

We have quite a bit to offer – in two, separate and easy ways:

      1. 100+ Art Tutorials to choose from at Hodgepodge.me. You simply click on the art tutorial link you are interested at the link listed above (100+ Free Art Tutorials for All Ages)
      2. You ARE an Artist curriculum organized by theme in ebook form, also a link above.

I hope that helps clarify. And please enjoy – because you ARE an artist!
