My day today started too early, has been eventful, and is currently too messy!

I hate having to get up and get out of the house before I can make beds and clean the kitchen properly. Add to that the piles of items that are not making it to their homes, but instead languishing about on my dining room table or kitchen counter (hot spots for you Flybabies out there) and it all begins to drive me crazy. Clutter eats peace. Note that I am blogging instead of cleaning, though. If I lean in really close to the computer monitor I can block out all the other.

Mr. John had a nine month checkup this morning, so we had to leave the house by 8:00. Early appointments are necessary to keep me and the two-year-old and the baby from having to languish in the doctor’s waiting room for over and hour as they get behind. Small price to pay. The appointment went well. J is perfect in every way, and the good doc and I spent much of the allotted time talking about O and her behavior of late. He assured me that it is all normal, but the recent spat of needing mommy to do everything for her is stretching me thin. Good thing is that Matt has stepped up to clean the kitchen in the evenings since I have to do baths and stories at bedtime (his old domain), but the evening hour is even more of a flurry for me now because John also has to be nursed during that time as well. Hopefully this too shall pass.

The fog and mist precluded our planned park outing, so we opted for the library instead. No story time today, but it was hardly missed (except for maybe the snack). Some of the other kids were there and they played and colored as normal while I passed out the few animal crackers I had stowed in the diaper bag. Next we treated ourselves to “chicken and fries” at Wendy’s and settled in to nap.

The kids had a good Christmas. They have been playing hard with all the new toys. Olivia’s kitchen was missing some important pieces (Note to self: assemble gifts before Christmas Eve next year.) Seriously, 8:00 PM on Christmas Eve we realized that we had no oven door. Matt even went out to Wal Mart to get some sort of replacement gift and it was already closed. Fortunately, she is young enough that she hasn’t noticed Santa left her a less than complete present. If she had been older we really would have been in trouble. The parts should be here in 7-10 days (fingers crossed).

I had a wonderful Christmas. Got books and a gift card to the book store so even more books are coming. I ordered quite a few yummy scrapbooking tomes (reviews coming soon). Matt got me those via gift card and the two remaining books in the Twilight teen vampire romance trilogy. (Yes, I know, but they are really fun reads.) Santa left bubble bath in my stocking, and my mom gave me this:

It’s the Bamboo Fun by Wacom. So far I have just been using it as a mouse alternative, but I am loving the pen. I am hoping any minute to get some time to start exploring all of the other features.

Last, but not least, worked on my first transparent scrapbook page last night. It is harder than it looks. Can’t print text on it, have to think about where it is placed in the book, etc. I almost have all the kinks worked out (need some vellum tape for my embellishments), and I will post a pic. Loved the way it turned out, though. It is one page in my December Daily album that I am about 24 pages behind on. Hopefully will get some of those up soon.
