Outside my window…
Overcast and hot and humid. Praying we get some rain today. We need it so badly. The high for Saturday is only supposed to be 76. It might actually feel like fall for Halloween.

I am thankful…
for family. We had such a wonderful time Sunday. I know my family doesn’t understand everything about my new faith, but they knew it was important so they came out and shared in our joy this weekend. Love them for that.

I am thinking about…

appearing more joyful. I am so very content with my life right now, but it rarely shows on the outside. I need to work on that. Does anyone know of some writings that address this?

Learning all the time…
From the kitchen…

Potato soup for us and a sick friend. Later this week something pumpkin — still haven’t decided on bread, muffins or cookies. Other than some party items this week we are cooking from the pantry.

I am creating…
Costumes for our first All Saints party on Friday! Olivia will be Elizabeth of Portugal. John is going as John the Baptist. I think T will just get a halo to wear. Also, a thankfulness calendar for November. Must be done by 11/1!
I am working on…
the clothes swap… still. We got another bag of baby boy stuff this weekend. All I have left to do is sort the 18- and the 24- month stuff into separate containers and I will be DONE!
I am going…
on a date with my husband. It’s an anniversary celebration on Friday evening. We have been married for 16 years! (As one friend put it, “You really are an old married couple.” We are indeed.)
I am reading…
Firefly Lane — it’s ok getting a little more interesting tedious.
The Catholic Home — I need to keep this one by my bedside. I pulled it out to look up All Saints and All Souls, but I should have read it before the baptism — it has a great chapter that should be called Observing the Sacraments for Dummies (or converts).
I am praying…
for safe travel for family members this week.

I am hearing…
the TV in the background. It is afternoon quiet time with a movie. The selection is Madeline.

Around the house…

nice and clean because of the party on Sunday. I have a short list of de-clutter items left to do. My goal is to have them done by the yard sale.
One of my favorite things…
friends — long distance friends who call and talk each week, friends who are happy in love and deserve it so much that it makes me smile often, friends who said “yes” to being Godparents to my children, friends who are praying for us, friends who make my day by chatting back and forth on Facebook — lending support and sharing a smile, online friends whom I have never met who inspire me daily with a tidbit here or there. I don’t see these people everyday, but they sure do keep me from feeling so isolated as I go about my vocation here in my home.
A few plans for the rest of the week…
All Saints party on Friday morning with the homeschoolers. The date! Halloween at my mom’s house Saturday night. We will trick or treat in her town and then eat chili and s’mores in her backyard.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

After the baptisms on Sunday. I hope to get more of these up in the next day or so.
