Happy Monday everyone! We did start this morning. Sickness ended up being a false alarm, so we plunged right in with morning time, math, and handwriting. And then that is as far as we got. We could have kept going, but I promised the kids a treat and at that point it was 11:15.

My original plan called for schooling from 8:30-11:30, but I think that is going to need to be extended seeing as how morning time was shorter than it will be, and we didn’t get to reading for anyone or Latin for Olivia. Or writing. Or spelling. Ah it’s the nature of the beast — kids get older and school gets longer. We did take a break from about 10:15-10:30 for a snack.

Could we have been more efficient? I just don’t know. We rolled along pretty well and my sitter extraordinaire was here to help with Thomas. Routine might speed us up a tiny bit, but not by that much.

So tomorrow the plan is to start by 8:00 and add in the missing subjects. We will see where we are at 11:45. Why is this so important? I know me. I know that the most effective schooling will happen before Matt comes home for lunch. I know I am going to struggle to get back in the groove afterwards. I just know. If worse comes to worse I may put Olivia’s Arts of Language block to the afternoon — no way to shirk on that and push it aside. Anything else would likely get dropped.

And to celebrate our first day back we ended the morning with donuts! This was a huge hit — so big it may have to be repeated next year.

Did anyone else start today?
