Outside my window…
Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain. It has been at it pretty steady since before I woke up this morning and it shows no sign of letting up.

I am thankful…
for my children and the opportunity I have to stay home with them every day.

Learning all the time…
We haven’t been doing anything formal since the week before Christmas. We are going to start back next Monday.
From the kitchen…

These cheese crackers and One-bowl Muffins from the Healthy Snacks to Go eBook. I am trying to serve more snacks where we can actually pronounce the ingredients. Today I am going to make more muffins and try the granola bar recipe.

On my iPod…
Home Routines. It is a totally customizable app for all of your household routines. My favorite part is the accomplishments tab. You click on it and it shows you everything from every category that you have accomplished that day. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I am creating…
a journal like this one. So far I like it.

I am pondering…
This from Camp Creek Blog. Elizabeth shared it this morning. My favorite part: Don’t worry if you have a setback. Consider all failures temporary. Know that you will eventually succeed, as long as you keep working at it. I need to tattoo that on my forehead backwards, so I can see it every time I look in the mirror.
You say you want a resolution…
My word for the year is ACTION — something I badly need. To facilitate action I have chose three focus areas for this month and plan to change them as I form habits throughout the year. This month the focus is on

  1. Prayer
  2. Go to bed early
  3. Exercise

So far so good, though, I think exercise is the hardest. I started Spark People’s 28 Day Boot Camp yesterday — of course I had originally planned to start earlier in the week. Gonna be tough.

This is also “The Year of the NO.” I have a few more months of my current outside-of-the-home commitments and then I am saying NO to anything old or new. I really want to focus on home this year.

I am reading…
The Three Rs by Ruth Beechick  – I am starting to think about homeschool curriculum for next year, and I find that I need this reminder to keep it simple. It is too easy to get caught up in everything that is out there.
I am praying…
three times a day. Morning, evening, and night I am praying the Scriptures and asking God for his graces. I need to remember that prayer is a process and won’t be a perfect experience every time. Just do it — that’s my prayer motto.

I am hearing…
Toy Story 2, because it is raining, because we have watched Toy Story 3 to death, because Toy Story is too scary for John.

Around the house…

Working on the school room. I am selling tons of stuff that we never use. This is awesome because it gives me some mad money to spend on new things. The problem is, that takes lots of time to communicate with buyers, box, estimate shipping, etc. This is the reason school is being put off another week.
One of my favorite things…
Coffee on a cold morning. I have always been a hit or miss coffee drinker, but now I am really looking forward to it each day. Of course this is also bad, because I like my coffee with cream and sugar.
A few plans for the rest of the week…
Story time at the library tomorrow. We started going again in December, and I think it is worthy enough to keep it up despite the disruption in our schedule. Soup and fun with our homeschool group on Friday. Lesson plans for next week.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

John and friend cutting a rug at the parish Christmas party. No, there was no scheduled dancing,
but I love the fact that they didn’t let that stop them.
