1 – Oh my goodness. I have been so sick. Somehow I caught the flu in the midst of summer. Poor Johnny got it too and for a week we have just felt so yucky — fever, aches, chills, sore throats, coughing, etc. The kids have been languishing around the house with me, because I just can’t get out to take them anywhere. I am feeling better, but still so tired. I am hoping to have the energy to go to the pool tomorrow.

2 – School starts here Monday! I am a bit freaked out. I just about have everything “ready,” but I do need to go back over my TMs and make sure we have what we need for the week, and I really know what to do when we open the books. I am looking forward to a routine with great anticipation.

3 – Speaking of school, if you homeschool this is a fabulous read about curriculum-envy. Of course it might be worth the money for the clean floors alone.

4 – One of the things I have (already) been thinking about adding to our schedule is a 10-15 Thomas-time in the mornings before I start with everyone else. I am thinking if I give him some undivided attention up front it will fill his tank for a while. Now I need a few easy tricks and activities to do along with some songs and books.

5 – Before the great sickness we went camping with my mom. Good fun there. We went to the beach and the kids had their first visit to a water park. We swam in the pool and played with cousins. My mom has an RV, but we stayed next door in a cabin at the campground. I highly recommend this style of camping — nice beds, showers, full kitchen with coffee pot. Perfect.

6 – The Olympics start tonight — but I bet you knew that, right? I got the kids all geeked up by watching the 30 greatest Olympic moments show this past weekend. They are all ready to be Olympians now. We’ve also got a couple of picture books to read and crafts to do related to the games. This is the first Olympics they are really old enough to realize that there is something special happening. Matt and I are huge Olympics fans, so it is nice to introduce the games to our kids. Will you be watching?

7 – I recently finished reading Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand: A Novel and enjoyed it greatly. Which is unusual, because it was recommended by Sarah, and we don’t have a good track record for liking the same books. Now I will say that I did not really laugh out loud much while reading, but it was witty and I found myself heartily agreeing with the Major in one sentence and praying he would not end up dissapointing me in the next. Enjoyable read with a great cast of characters. Next up is Saving CeeCee Honeycutt: A Novel. It’s got to grab me, because it’s due on Tuesday.

And a picture, because I can’t have a post without a picture.

Trampoline school! This is from the spring. And she was quizzing me, not the other way around. See the checks when I got them correct? Where does she get this stuff?
