It has been so long since I did a Quick Takes. The last one I can find said it was volume six, so I’m just sticking seven up there and rolling with it.

1 – I am off to the airport today to pick up Matt! I am so very happy to see him. This is by far the longest we have been apart without seeing each other in 19 years. We are making it here, but I do miss him terribly. I am finding, though, that I am stronger in many things than I thought. My biggest thing is the sheer physical exhaustion that come at the end of each day just from being pregnant and keeping up with the kids.

100_0834Pin 2 – Speaking of missing Matt, I am not the only one. I keep a computer desktop with photos on it and change it out from month to month. Usually I put photos of the kids up there but since September only had one spot for a photo this month I put up a photo of Matt that he had emailed me. I was walking out of the school room yesterday morning as John was climbing up in my chair. I guess he thought the photo of Matt was a webcam shot because he started talking to it. “Daddy come see me. Daddy come see me.” I was almost in tears. They will be so happy to see him tomorrow.

3 – We attend ballet class on post each week at the Child and Youth Services building. One of the 5889_1213238968166_1144537881_665734_4654844_nPinwomen who works there has no arms. Of course Olivia has noticed this and asked about it today. Of course she did so loudly enough that everyone, including the lady in question, could hear. I do believe that I heard a chuckle come from her office, thank goodness, as I rushed to explain to Olivia that some people are born without arms or lose them in an accident and that the lady uses her feet to do many of the things Olivia does with her hands. Well over an hour and two dances classes later we got into the van to drive away. The question then came from the back seat, “Mom, does baby Thomas have arms?” Ah the ponderings of a four-year-old.

4 – Speaking of Thomas the Baby (not to be mistaken for Thomas the Train – btw, this is the little guy’s name if I have not yet announced it) I did get to see him via ultrasound this week. The doctor said everything looks great. I start appointments every two weeks on the 18th. Time is flying. Someone asked me today if I was getting ready. In a word, “No”. I figure as long as I have a bassinet, car seat, some clean baby clothes, and some diapers we will be good to go. Ah how things change between #1 and #3.

5 – I shared with Olivia and John today that the plan for room arrangements is to put Thomas the Baby in John’s bed (with crib rail back in place) and put a new bed for John in Olivia’s room. A while later I had John on the changing table taking care of business and the “conversation” went something like this:

johngobblesPin“Thomas Baby in my bed?”

“Yes, Thomas will sleep in your bed and you will get a new bed in sissy’s room.”

“Thomas Baby in my bed?”

“Will you share your bed with Baby Thomas? Would that be OK”?”

“Uh-huh”

“You are a sweet boy to share.” At this point I get gifted with a big hug. He really is a terribly sweet guy.

6 – I am thinking of rolling the homeschool blog back into this one. I rolled it out into its own separate thing back when I was doing tons of scrapbooking and sharing my blog with folks in the scrapbooking class. Problem is, my life is not always like that. Wonder if I am spreading it all too thin and shouldn’t just have one blog about things that interest me. Comments? Preferences?

7 – I will take any advice I can get on potty regression in a four-year-old. Olivia has been horrible lately. At least once or twice a day she goes in her pants (and subsequently on the couch, bed, or chair she is sitting on). I really don’t think these are accidents as every once and a while I will strike upon something that motivates her for a few days and she goes without wetting herself. Then the new wears off of the motivator and we are back to square one. I have tried everything I can think of short of putting her back into diapers. Yes, she started this about the time Matt left. No, I don’t always keep my cool about it like I should. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
