The time has come to begin exercising our citizenship in earnest to be sure that our country is not co-opted by socialism. So take a few moments to write your state senators and encourage them to vote against the Obama economic stimulus plan.

I saw poll on the news yesterday that indicated over 50% of Americans want economic stimulus. I want stimulus too, but that is not what this bill is. This bill is spending, pure and simple. I just don’t know how they think that we can believe $350 million for STD prevention is going to stimulate the economy. It might stimulate something, but the economy isn’t it. We do not need to go deeper into this hole of debt than we are already. Our children simply can’t afford it.

So please take a moment to contact your senator and ask them to put together a REAL stimulus plan. One that would offer a tax holiday for workers and employers. The workers could then spend the money to stimulate the economy or maybe save themselves from an impending foreclosure. Employers would be able to reinvest in their business or stave off a necessary lay-off with the usual installment loans online direct options. A tax cut (for people who actually pay taxes) could also benefit the economy if a tax holiday is not your thing. More money in the hands of the people give them more spending power.

To jump-start the  stock market we could lower the corporate tax rate or have a capital gains tax holiday. A holiday on capital gains would bring many investors out of the woodwork. And lest you think I am pro-corporation and “why should they get a break”?” – they are the ones who pay the salaries of Americans. At any rate, corporations do not pay taxes they simply pass the taxes on to the end consumer. YOU pay all the corporate taxes collected in this country.

The Democrat controlled congress and President Obama are determined to spend a large amount of money. Fine, they just need to spend it on stimulus that will actually succeed and not fail. Our little one-income family stands to financially benefit from many of Obama’s plans, but that still doesn’t make them right.

You can contact your Senator by going to the Senate home page.

In addition, if your representative was one of the Republicans (its about time!!) or the 11 Democrats who voted against the spending bill (like mine – Yay Bobby!) then go to the US House of Representatives site and send him or her a thank-you as well.
