By Wednesday of this week the kids were missing our morning trips to the school room. John asked if I would work with him in his book and off we went for a full morning of lessons. Ah well, who says you can’t do something schoolish everyday?

Olivia
Reading – Headsprout.com. Read What Am I? Hello Reader.
Math – Dreamboxlearning.com. Read Double the Ducks (Math Start 1) Did a number of doubling activities from Hands-On Math and Literature with Mathstart, Level 1. Watched the Doubles video on Brainpopjr.com.  Sang the Doubles, Doubles song. (There is also a 6-10 version.) Played A Bunch of Beans from Games for Math. This is listed as a game for grades 2-3, but Olivia wanted to count to 100 and this fit that nicely (along with fitting what she is working on with Dreamboxlearning.com). After a couple of demonstrations on how to count up the scores, she did fine with it.

What Can I Give Him?
by Christina Rosetti

What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd,
I would bring a lamb;
If I were a wise man,
I would do my part;
Yet what can I give Him?
Give my heart.
