We did very little in our lesson plan other than recite, discuss, and read this month, but I have pulled out the patience song (I write a little song based on the definition on the We Choose Virtues card. This month it was to the tune of “If you’re happy and you know it.”) more than once this month. It serves as a good reminder for them and for me.

Discuss

  • What does it mean to be patient?
  • Discuss the meanings of the antonym words from We Choose Virtues card.
  • Give some examples of ways you can be patient.

Read

Practice
Use the Mealtime manners suggestions (scroll down)to practice patience during meal times this month. Focus on waiting for everyone to be seated and grace to be said before eating or drinking. Focus on waiting until everyone is done before leaving the table. Maybe make a mealtime discussion jar for ideas to talk about while everyone waits and enjoys dinner as a family.

Do

  • Cotton, cotton in my hand, remind me to be patient if you can (scroll down)
  • Plant some seeds. Water and wait daily for the seeds to sprout.
