You can see our first Home Art Studio lesson here.
Our last lesson of the year before summer break is linked here.

We are still loving our new Home Art Studio lesson DVDs. I wanted to put up photos of our last two projects to share.

First was a project called Rainbow Weaving. It consisted of painting a watercolor rainbow, some cutting, and then weaving strips of white paper into our piece. We learned about the terms weft and warp and all about the colors of the rainbow in this project. (I will note that we did not have an indigo color in our watercolors so we just filled the bottom of the paper with purple.)

We may laminate these and make them into place mats. I thought they turned out great!

This week we did a project called Mission to Mars. It is a mixed media piece combining oil pastels and magic marker. Ms. Volin taught the kids about drawing stars, planets, and even their own rocket ships. Of course my two had to add aliens and even an astronaut puppy to the mix.

Olivia’s picture with a couple of extra aliens, astropup, a comet, and a meteor.

John added an alien (green and white blob in lower right) AND a black hole under his space ship — look close. Peril!

Can’t wait to start our next project. Wish I had done this earlier. Art is fun now!
